An olive tree, an atrium, and two volumes arranged around them are the main elements of this contemporary family home. Modest from the street, yet powerful from the courtyard, its form clearly reveals that it was created for the enjoyment of those who live in it, without any desire to attract the curious glances of passers-by. Through the two volumes – different in size and material treatment – the purpose of the spaces can be read, as they flow linearly from the street, through the entrance, around the atrium, into the living area of the house, and further to the terrace, courtyard, and swimming pool.
The taller, white volume contains the main living areas, while the lower, brown-gold volume accommodates the bedrooms and service spaces. The ideal orientation of this single-story, detached house allows you to experience the sun exactly as each space should be lit. Waking up with the eastern sun, and living with the southern sun. Additionally, through the central atrium, sunlight and daylight become an integral part of the interior and everyday life. The olive tree at the center of the house, around which the space flows, is there for its own intimate Zen. It is not just greenery – it is living furniture.
