Bas ten Brinke
70F architecture, the Netherlands
Bas ten Brinke is the founder of the progressive Dutch firm 70F architecture, which has been primarily engaged in the design of residential and commercial buildings for many years. His work is characterized by functionality and the use of robust materials, which, despite their austerity, allow for bright and orderly spaces without compromise.
Ten Brinke founded his own architectural firm at the age of 23 and has been demonstrating his ambitious, minimalist, and honest approach ever since. The use of wood in his projects is not self-evident, but appears where its role, as he says, is to “reduce aesthetic violence on the surroundings.”
Ten Brinke has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2008 World Architecture Festival award in Barcelona for his wooden barn. In addition to designing, he also teaches at the architecture department of La Salle University (Barcelona, Almere).
