Tibor Uhrín

Tibor Uhrín studied industrial design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU).

In 2006, he completed his doctoral studies in design at the Faculty of Architecture of STU. Until the late 1990s, Tibor Uhrín focused primarily on toy design, but gradually shifted his attention to furniture, interior accessories, and tableware objects. He experimentally explores various material processing techniques, especially with wood, metal, and more recently, stone.

His work has been exhibited both in Slovakia and internationally, and he has received numerous awards. His works are currently part of the collections of the Slovak National Gallery and the Slovak Design Museum in Bratislava. Tibor Uhrín regularly publishes essays and reflections on craft and design in professional journals. He is the author of the book Wood, Design and Tradition (2013). In 2016, he was appointed Professor in the field of design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

He is professor at the Department of Design, Faculty of Arts, Technical University in Košice. In 2019, his monograph Tibor Uhrín. Form Mellows Function was published in Slovakia.
