Mario Cucinella Architects is a renowned architecture and design studio known for its strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. Founded in Paris in 1992, the firm has since expanded with offices in Bologna (since 1999) and Milan (since 2018), and today operates globally with a multidisciplinary team of over one hundred professionals—including architects, engineers, designers, model makers, and visual artists.
Over the years, MCA has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, particularly for its environmentally conscious approach. Central to its practice is a dedicated R&D department, which supports projects through in-depth research focused on energy efficiency and holistic sustainability strategies.
Giovanni Trogu is an Architect and Project Director at Mario Cucinella Architects, a studio he has been collaborating with since 2022.
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on the evolution of the concept of architectural identity linked to adaptation to local climatic elements, exploring the relationship between form, materials, and passive strategies for environmental control.
Specialized in museum and exhibition design, he develops solutions that blend architectural scale with a deep focus on visitor experience, combining spatial, perceptual, and technological aspects to enrich the interaction between the public and the architectural work.
His experience extends to international projects, with interventions in the Middle East and Far East, as well as programs for the redevelopment and conversion of historical buildings in Italy for cultural and museum functions.
Consistently focused on experimenting with innovative technologies and complex systems, Giovanni approaches design with an interdisciplinary mindset, exploring advanced solutions that enhance the efficiency and adaptability of architectural spaces.
Luca Tiozzo is Project Leader at Mario Cucinella Architects.
Born in Bologna, he is an engineer specialized in architectural and urban design, with particular reference to the realization of national and international competitions.
He earned a master’s degree in Building Engineering-Architecture in 2018 at the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna, after completing an internship at a renowed international architecture firm in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He wrote a thesis project on the redevelopment of the Comacchio Valleys (Ferrara, Italy) using light interventions, both on urban and architectural scale.
He has been collaborating with MCA since 2018, dealing with international projects of different sizes and scale, ranging from the initial concept phase to the detailed and developed design. He is skilled in parametric 3D modeling software, both in defining the initial massing and in developing detailed elements in the following phases.
