A House with Character
A small plot on a busy street posed a great challenge. It was essential to accommodate all spatial needs, ensure privacy and intimacy, create a green courtyard as an extension of the open-space living area, and find room for a terrace, a space for the car and motorcycle. All of this had to fit into a small plot surrounded by existing buildings.
The shape and position of the house directly determined how much sunlight would enter the space throughout the day. It all came down to the architect’s vision and, of course, the trust of the investor in a slightly unconventional solution. And so it was, from the first sketch and concept to the final details that make this house unique. Because when you take a closer look, this house has character. From the outside, it is solid, enclosed, and secure. On the inside, it is soft, open, and shielded from prying eyes.
Due to the proximity to the street and passersby, we created an exterior shell that, when closed, conceals and further protects the entrance door – a slightly unconventional detail. We opened the house to the south, allowing sunlight to flood the courtyard and living area while ensuring complete privacy from curious onlookers.
