Naturkindergarten Niederbahn & Hermann-Gmeiner-Park

The Niederbahn Nature Kindergarten is organized into three distinct zones, ranging from the protected core zone to the public shaded park. The recreational forest is designed to provide a high-quality environment for both children and older people, ensuring comfort even during hot weather.

The kindergarten’s activity area is seamlessly integrated into the overall design. Starting from the kindergarten, a wooden walkway leads into the second zone, encouraging children’s spatial and self-awareness with features such as a sound tube, rocky terrain, hollows, a hollow path, and playful bushes. This area is already accessible to the public.

The activity area of the kindergarten extends around the entire perimeter, with a low ropes course as the focal point of the third zone. The site is highly accessible, with public footpaths and cycle paths leading to a large public sand and water play area and a play hill located right next to the kindergarten building.

As much of the area as possible has been left unsealed, and water retention and evaporation potential have been maximized. The principles of reuse and recycling played a significant role in the implementation, in collaboration with the municipal building yard.
