From the beginning, the Sobotecká playground project in Prague stood out. Initiated by a private investor, the project aimed to inspire residents to take part in shaping public spaces and to support initiatives that enhance community life.
Despite initial skepticism, the municipality of this Prague district approved the reconstruction of the outdated playground. The investor independently funded the CZK 15 million (approx. 600.000 EUR) project, minimizing the city’s involvement and financial burden.
More than just a playground, the result is a 3.000 m² playscape – designed for children to play and parents to relax. Built to evolve and mature over time, it transforms a previously neglected area into a vibrant, long-lasting public space.
This project serves as a model for private-public collaboration, demonstrating that individuals can drive meaningful urban improvements. It is our hope that it inspires others to invest in playgrounds, streets, and squares – creating better cities for everyone.
