The observation deck acts as a pedestal for the southern Styrian soul.
On behalf of the market town of Gleinstätten, we were given the opportunity to develop an observation deck with a panoramic view of the Sausal landscape. A hillside property in Sausal, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside, was chosen as the starting point for this project, which received EU innovation funding. The property is ideally located along a popular hiking and cycling path. The project is entirely emblematic of the Styrian landscape in this sense and is intended to act as a stage and a pedestal for the southern Styrian soul. “Branchwood” made of bent timber formally references the gently rolling, wooded hills of the Sausal.
A long table for a short break.
A large table is placed in the center of the observation deck, inviting visitors to rest together in the spirit of southern Styrian hospitality and conviviality with the food or drinks they have brought with them. Towards the hillside slope of the location, the wooden table transforms into a cozy wooden lounger for resting and enjoying the landscape as the mind wanders. The ensemble is rounded off with the typical landmark information plate that is provided at every lookout point.
