Founded in 1891 by Dr. Norbert von Kaan and managed by the Barmherzige Schwestern until 2017, the Martinsbrunn Clinic in Meran is now run by the St. Elisabeth Foundation. The transformation project turns the historic building into a contemporary healthcare facility that blends care, rehabilitation, and nature.
A former pavilion is replaced by a new, three-story structure with a light, floating appearance, defined by overlapping volumes and a transparent glass façade that connects indoor and outdoor spaces. The ground floor hosts a new outpatient clinic with ten treatment rooms and offices. The first floor includes five assisted flats for elderly or dependent individuals, all facing the park. A conference room, laundry, and storage are placed in the basement. White surfaces enhance the sense of calm and well-being. The surrounding park, open to the public during the day, offers shaded paths and sensory experiences that support relaxation and mental health.
