NEW SANT’ ERMO – Riqualificazione di Sant’ Ermete

The redevelopment intervention in Sant’Ermete, located in the municipality of Vado Ligure, stems from the municipal administration’s need to address a series of “historical” challenges in the hamlet, primarily related to livability and mobility, especially in the area where the primary school and an important mutual aid society are situated. To implement the identified programmatic objectives and revitalize the area, a project called “unitary vision of 3 episodes” was developed, which could also be executed individually and in various phases over time: a new parking lot, a new playground, and the connecting pathways were developed as follows:

– A 600 m2 parking lot, featuring a permeable and draining surface, aimed primarily at enhancing circulation in the area and facilitating swift and orderly maneuvering of vehicles, without congestion upon exiting the built-up area.

– A new playground in the “green” area of approximately 800 sqm, seamlessly integrating with a network of public and private green spaces, designed as gardens with draining surfaces and natural materials. Constructed across 3 levels resembling the existing “Ligurian” terraces: an upper area for traditional games featuring “the tricolor and the rainbow,” a relaxation area with a pergola, and a multi-sports field zone.

– The connecting pathways between the parking lot and the playground. Establishing a system of pathways, both to the north and south, was crucial to ensuring easy access to the play area. These pathways link the playground to the parking lot, serving as a cohesive element between the various components of the intervention area, particularly the existing green spaces, to create “a revitalized island in the heart of which the primary school is situated.”
