Nermina Zagora

Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 2005, she is a recipient of the “Zlatna značka” award of the University of Sarajevo. She obtained her Master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2008 and earned her PhD at the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo in 2012. She completed her fourth year of studies at UPC University in Barcelona, Spain (2004), and participated in several months-long research study stays related to her master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation at universities in Oslo, Norway (2005), London, United Kingdom (2007), Ghent, Belgium (2009), and Kobe, Japan (2009). She also took part in several shorter international academic exchanges during the period 2010–2024 (Brno, Czech Republic; Bari, Bologna, and Rome, Italy; Trondheim, Norway; Évora, Portugal). Since 2006, she has been employed at the Faculty of Architecture. She is engaged in scientific research as well as professional practice in the design studio “Firma.” She is the recipient of national and regional awards and recognitions for professional and scientific work, among which the “Ranko Radović” Award for critical and theoretical texts in the field of architecture (Republic of Serbia, 2021) stands out, awarded for the book Urban Rooms of Sarajevo (co-authored with D. Šamić), as well as two Annual AABH Collegium Artisticum Awards (2017 and 2022), and awards and recognitions from architectural competitions. Since 2023, she has served as Vice Dean for Scientific Research at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the jubilee monograph University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Architecture 1949–2024: 75 Years of Architectural Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the scientific journal Acta Architectonica et Urbanistica (AAeU), published by the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Architecture.
