PLAJER + FRANZ has implemented a multi-brand concept for luxury brands at the new international Istanbul airport in 2023. The project was realized in close cooperation with jan richter for gbr. heinemann/ATU duty-free in two construction phases. The so-called “luxury square” is located in the central departure area in zone 5. Under tree-like structures that support the lighting, the area with its open bazaar structure invites shoppers to enjoy a high-quality shopping experience. The first section was designed for luxury accessories. a multi-brand sunglasses display forms the heart of this area. For better differentiation of the brands, the storage boxes in the lower part of the furniture are made of beige and dark brown Turkish marble. The middle section, which cuts through the entire area and is thus the second construction phase, takes up the formal language from the first section but works with more innovative materials and stronger contrasts.
