This restaurant and lounge bar are located in the heart of the city of Nikšić, in a cult place known to many people beside inhabitants – hotel Onogošt, built in 1955. Interior design was a challenge for the studio because there were several parameters which affected the design – specific genius loci and a task for design to be accessible to all generations.
The restaurant and the lounge bar are separated by a lobby. Inside the restaurant there is a small atrium, which gives the space additional quality and makes the ambience cosy, with lots of natural light.
The warmth of wood and re-used brick, as well as the arched ceiling and chevron floor, give the interior a vintage look and revive the spirit of the past, while the modern design of the elements in the lounge bar is a link to modern interior designs.
The continuity of space is accented with a wine shelf, an elegant structure separated by a glass barrier. The frames on the walls represent the architects’ artistic view of an unopened window, being also a possible platform for artists to exhibit their works in the future.
Natural light, which enters the object through five framed portals, combines with lighting bodies to a comfortably bright and cosy ambience.
The interior of the restaurant is framed with wooden verticals and claddings. The wall dividing the restaurant and the main corridor to the accommodation part is deliberately left semi-transparent. This glass partition with separated wooden elements make this wall a see through, enabling guests to see part of the interior from the corridor.
The dark floor, with an accentuated central walkway, represents a platform where game of materials and colours takes place.
The wine shelf on the upholstered background is one of the accents of this space. Particular attention is paid to choosing the furniture and lighting, and carpentry details are made carefully.
