CERA PENDULA is in perfect balance between materiality and dissolution, between levitation and suspension, between aesthetics and function.

Wafer-thin light breaks through an almost invisible membrane of hand-cast porcelain, reduced to fragility, into the surrounding space. The delicate, diffuse light of the organically shaped light body transforms into a brilliant deep beam in the semi-open version, through the combination with an opening at the underside.

Available in two versions, closed and semi-open, and in three sizes, freely modelled cluster arrangements can be created organically: Extended dimensions, extended light.

The fixture mount, precisely tailored to the shape of the porcelain body, elegantly integrates an ultra-thin textile cable. Easily adjustable, reduced to the bare essentials, and elegantly braided, it supports the Cera Pendula luminaires in style and reflects the uncompromising high quality standards down to the smallest detail.

With optional Dim-to-Warm technology, Cera Pendula delivers exceptional brilliance and color rendering regardless of dim level and color temperature. The result: atmospheric islands of light that uniquely combine cosiness with luminous intensity.

Cera Pendula luminaires are part of the DOT 28 system, a comprehensive system that integrates light and components flush and frameless into any ceiling material. Whether exposed concrete, plaster, gypsum, or wood, the system offers installation modules for any ceiling situation, into which the suspensions of the Cera Pendula luminaires can be inserted seamlessly and flush-mounted.

Architecture is the result of thoughtful composition and joining.

Light brings materials to life, creates moods, and reveals depth.

Cera Pendula complements architecture and light with grace and poetry.

BIG SEE Talks with Georg Bechter Licht

Q: Was sustainability your starting point in the design – or did it emerge naturally from your idea of good design?

A: We believe that beauty means sustainability. That’s why we create objects to fall in love with, timeless pieces that set the standard for the future. Our products conserve resources, they are repairable and recyclable, which allows us to minimize their ecological footprint. We rely on regional value creation. That is why 85 percent of our economic and technical processes take place in and around the Bregenzerwald region in Austria, with our Denk.Werk.Statt-named think tank and workshop as the point of origin. For us, sustainability is not a trendy slogan, but an authentic tradition.

Q: How important are longevity and adaptability when you design light – especially in an object as refined and minimal as CERA PENDULA?

A: We create long-lasting quality. Because what we do is made to endure. We aim to reuse what already exists, reduce energy consumption, and craft beauty that stands the test of time. With our 15-year product cycle guarantee, we commit to longevity. We focus on products with the potential to become classics.

In designing the Cera Pendula luminaires, we eliminated all adhesive bonds and opted for non-destructive detachable spring fastenings. Thanks to meticulous design, we achieved full reparability, even with a luminaire as complex as Cera Pendula, without compromising its formal lightness.

With over 12,000 possible combinations, our DOT 28 system is the most comprehensive of its kind. It offers not only the security of a fully thought-out system, but also compatibility with future components.

We promote circular economy, both in product design and in construction. We are convinced that through reparability, durability, and good design, we can contribute to preserving our planet. That’s why every luminaire in the DOT 28 system is intended to have a second life. We buy back every retired luminaire to give it a second life in our collection with history.

Q: You’ve described the lamp as a “gentle pendulum.” What does that poetic image mean to you – technically and emotionally?

A: It is all about exploring boundaries and dissolving them. Every discovery of solutions becomes an opportunity for beauty and simplicity. From this emerges a practice of creating the innovative and the new, bridging craftsmanship with technical feasibility.

Cera Pendula captivates not only through its soft, organic shape, but through its presence as a gentle, almost invisible volume of light – levitating, nearly weightless, seemingly dissolving the boundaries of gravity. Its delicate yet bright appearance is made possible by the extraordinary materiality of porcelain. Only the wafer-thin shell of the luminaire body, perfectly balanced between stability and translucency, gives rise to this uniquely gentle light.
