Local People was born from the transformation of a long-standing, domed structure within the city’s dense urban fabric, reinterpreted to meet the rhythm of contemporary life. Preserving its circular form, the design follows a radial layout that expands from the center outward. At its heart, a vertical willow tree installation creates a nest-like core, symbolizing warmth and gathering.
The glass dome invites abundant daylight, softened by textile sun-shading panels developed with artist Pınar Çetin, while a color-transitioned artwork transforms the entrance column into a sculptural welcome. Material continuity strengthens the bond between interior and exterior, as willow branches extend outdoors to form natural shading elements. Local People ultimately becomes a calm, light-filled retreat that reimagines a traditional form through contemporary design and artistic expression.
