“Living at the Vineyard” redefines the gateway to Bad Sauerbrunn. Inspired by the rolling hills of Burgenland, the design leverages the site’s natural slope to create a sculptural form. The terraced structure acts as a mediator: it establishes an urban presence along the main road while gently stepping down towards the residential lane to respect the scale of the neighboring family homes.

The project features a sophisticated decoupling of user flows. A vibrant ground-floor commercial zone strengthens local infrastructure, while the residential entrance remains secluded on a half-level offset. Generous access balconies and lushly planted arcades transcend their functional purpose, serving as high-quality semi-private spaces for social interaction with panoramic views.

A prime example of thoughtful densification, the project revitalizes a formerly sealed brownfield site. By transforming an industrial yard into a porous, green habitat, it actively combats soil sealing. The integration of vertical greenery, PV systems, and the dual use of flat roofs as terrace gardens creates a microclimatic value that benefits both the residents and the surrounding neighborhood.
