Pure-C is a two-level residence spanning 360 m2 situated on the eastern side of Crete, perched on the headland of a small peninsula in the bay of Mirabello. The terrain of the area is rugged and rocky, with sparse vegetation, and the plot is practically enveloped by the sea, providing panoramic views from all sides of the house.
The residence comprises two distinct prismatic white volumes, strategically positioned to create the entrance, a water corridor leading to the view, and a patio encircling them, where the vertical and horizontal movements of the house occur. The northern volume accommodates the daytime living areas, while the southern volume houses the nighttime living spaces. Ensuring a seamless transition between the interior and exterior spaces, as well as the semi-outdoor areas, was a key design consideration.
The white color of the volumes, along with the presence of the patio and water features in and around the residence, contribute to cooling the indoor and outdoor spaces during the scorching summer months. The restoration of the surrounding areas was achieved through the careful selection of native plants and herbs, complementing the natural beauty of the landscape.
