A comprehensive renovation and energy retrofit of a 1960s mansion in the Vaud region, the project explores the potential of ordinary heritage to reinvent itself without losing its identity. The intervention is based on a careful analysis of the existing structure, revealing a contrast between generous volumes and a dark core. The key intervention involves opening up the first-floor slab to install a glass floor, allowing overhead light to structure all the spaces and transform the interior atmosphere.

The entrance is redefined by a white exposed-concrete vestibule, marked by a circular window that references the client’s background. The floor plan has been entirely redesigned to streamline circulation, while a panoramic window opens the living spaces onto the landscape. The project extends outdoors through the redesign of the garden and the integration of a swimming pool, ensuring overall coherence between architecture, light, and landscape.
