The Olive Sun House by Point_A

The Olive Sun House is a single-family residence conceived as a response to a narrow and elongated plot, with limited street frontage and an extended residential program. The project transforms these constraints into generators of form, spatial organization, and environmental performance. The main challenge was to achieve generous living spaces within a compact footprint, while ensuring daylight and comfort. This led to a central interior atrium, functioning as spatial organizer, light well, climatic regulator, and heart of the house.

The atrium defines daytime and nighttime zones and brings natural light deep into the plan. Its opening is calibrated through solar geometry studies, allowing controlled summer sunlight and maximizing winter solar gain. A sculptural olive bonsai tree transforms the atrium into a living landscape. Defined by minimal architecture and clean geometry, the house becomes a light-filled, energy-efficient dwelling, with auxiliary functions placed in a basement.
