In the Vexin, in Pouilly, the house sits in a small valley below a wooded hill and is often in shadow. The project is based on the contrast between shade and light: renovating the existing house and adding a brighter extension open to nature. The original building was carefully restored. Unnecessary walls and finishes were removed to create larger and lighter spaces. The oak frame, stone walls, and flint were revealed again, reconnecting the house to its local materials and landscape. The new extension stands perpendicular to the house and is raised three meters above the ground to capture more sunlight. Linked by a steel walkway, it rests on flint concrete foundations and supports a light pine structure. The project balances solidity and lightness, opening the house to its surroundings.
