A Special Natural Environment
Increasingly dense and diverse forests of oak, pine, and acacia. Winding, steep forest paths, quiet clearings, deer and wild boar, sunbathing butterflies, high hunting stands, hunters – and complete silence. At the top of the hill, a new yet fittingly foreign CLT-constructed hunting lodge hovers lightly above the landscape.
Somogytúr, near Lake Balaton, serves as the planning site – set in a landscape of hills and valleys. The forest itself, with its fallen trees and upward-reaching branches, shaped the inspiration for the building’s volume. It breaks, it bends, it ascends – aspiring toward light and distant views.
The two-storey structure consists of twin volumes, mirrored and irregularly arranged in an open “L” shape. Each form, perhaps most reminiscent of a horn, rotates around a central chimney. This creates distinct covered outdoor areas and terraces, giving each volume its own sense of intimacy- one for the family, the other for gatherings.
Set apart from existing structures, the lodge turns its gaze toward the forest. In doing so, it separates itself from the site’s other functions and firmly aligns with nature’s quiet rhythms.
