The Fairway Residence, located within a golf course community in Bridgehampton, NY, blends architectural innovation with sustainability on its 4 acre site. Designed as an upside-down house, it maximizes views of the landscape and bay beyond from the elevated living room, kitchen, and primary suite.
A second floor terrace carved into the form separates the primary suite from the great room. The ground floor offers four guest bedrooms, with individual access to the outdoors. A central breezeway creates a sheltered outdoor lounge, linking the home to the landscape while protecting against prevailing winds. Oversized zinc shingles, referencing the Hamptons shingle-style vernacular, clad the building. Mahogany-framed windows puncture the façade. Louvers within selected windows provide privacy. The project prioritizes sustainability, featuring a landscape that is 80 percent native vegetation – pitch pine, northern bayberry, and native grasses – supporting biodiversity.
