DOT is a techno-design project exploring porcelain decoration techniques that merge digital tools with experimental processes. The decor is created using a modified glaze application method via 3D printing, producing precise yet visibly hand-drawn lines that retain a human touch and character.
The base consists of second-grade porcelain plates sourced from a factory – pieces with minor imperfections that would otherwise go unused. This adds an ecological dimension to the project, highlighting the potential of flawed materials.
The visual design was developed in collaboration with tattoo artist Jakub Hýnar, known for his strong sense of rhythm, ornament, and geometry. The project investigates the interplay between material and surface painting, spontaneous gesture, and digital precision.
Technical solutions and production methods were developed with Ota Melter, a specialist in 3D printing and digital fabrication. The resulting technique offers virtually unlimited possibilities for decoration and variation.
