Right at the heart of Munich’s Hadern residential quarter, there is one last small plot of land that is yet to be developed. It is a triangular property at a fork in the road, and it is earmarked to become home to a three-group day care center. The center’s design fully exploits the potential of the somewhat cramped plot of land, proposing a triangular wooden building painted light blue, which stands fully detached and highly recognizable at the intersection.
The three building components frame a multifunctional central area that serves as a foyer, cloakroom, and play corridor all in one. On each floor, the multifunctional area extends all the way up to the façade, allowing for natural lighting and ventilation. Rounded walls seamlessly connect the various zones. The central space is defined by solid wood walls and ceilings that are, at the same time, both robust and atmospherically appealing. A skylight contributes wonderfully to this friendly, bright look and feel.
