Apokryfo Traditional Guesthouses

APOKRYFO comes from the greek definition of “a hidden away… kept secret”, a fitting name for this secluded property. APOKRYFO is a unique hideaway located at the edge of the picturesque village of Lofou, in the foothills of Mount Olympus, Cyprus.

This boutique hotel is made up of a cluster of old stone houses that have been painstakingly renovated by the owners, local architect Vakis Hadjikyriacou and his interior designer wife Diana. In 2009 they bought a quartet of ramshackle stone houses, some without roofs, others overrun with pomegranite trees, and transformed them into 5 picture perfect suites and 4 stylish houses for 4-8 persons, each offering cosy interiors with open fireplaces and fully equipped country style kitchens.

The complete renovation was carried out by local builders and craftsmen using traditional materials and long forgotten building techniques and crafts. The entire project was designed with respect to the environment and to revive the local community of Lofou and its surrounding villages by employing and engaging young people to stay and live in the countryside.

The wide range of accommodation includes suites, one bedroom studios and two and three bedroom houses, all are equipped with satellite TV, DVD/CD player, WiFi internet, king size beds, central heating and airconditioning, several rooms have fireplaces and others have private courtyards. Apokryfo can accommodate up to 36 guests making it a perfect location for individual bookings, family groups and small private functions. The AGRINO restaurant, serves Cypriot local cuisine full of originality, in the summer guests can dine on the rooftop terrace overlooking the village or in the courtyard besides the turquoise pool.

Our spa facilities include massage and beauty treatments by appointments and complementary use of our cosy gym, sauna and steam bath. The hotel lounge area in the main building has a library complete with board games and an open fireplace open to all guests and visitors. Since APOKRYFO opened in 2009 it has been highly awarded by Conde Nast Traveler and Trip Advisor.
