Nominator's statement

As a professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Architecture, it is my pleasure to recommend Mr Veljko Vučenović for this year’s BIG SEE Perspectives award. Veljko is an exceptionally creative and ambitious young architect, distinguished by his ability to transform complex ideas into clear and contextually grounded architectural solutions. His work is consistently supported by strong research, analytical reasoning, and an understanding of broader spatial and social frameworks. For the past three years, he has been an invaluable member of our teaching team, demonstrating maturity, and notable pedagogical sensitivity as a student assistant in architectural design studios. Beyond the faculty, he shows great dedication to competitions. His team won Third Prize in the 2025 Košutnjak / Avala Film competition in Belgrade, and an Honorable Mention for the Razvitak complex competition in Mostar.

CAMBIAMOLA STRADA

“Cambiamo La Strada” is a tactical urbanism project that intervenes in a strategic traffic node in the city of Trento (TN, Italy) to improve the safety and usability of public space for pedestrians and cyclists. In a context dominated by cars, the intervention reconfigures the street through the use of color as both a design and communication tool. Ground painting transforms the asphalt into an active surface, redefining movement hierarchies and restoring visibility to the most vulnerable users. The chromatic patterns organize the space into three zones: fast transit for bicycles, shared slow transit, and areas for stopping and social interaction. Designed as a temporary and replicable intervention, the project produces immediate effects on the perception of urban space and promotes more sustainable mobility, contributing to a more inclusive, accessible city attentive to the quality of public space.

CON-NESSI. ITERAZIONI MILLENARIE DI UNA NECROPOLI

“CON-NESSI. Iterazioni millenarie di una necropoli” is an exhibition that tells the story of a protohistoric necropolis discovered in the Nogarole Rocca area. Lightweight installations intertwine, narrating stories of movement and interconnection between past and present. It becomes a cultural crossroads offering insights into rituals, mobility, social relations, and migration flows of ancient populations over the centuries, supported by genetic and isotopic analyses of the recovered remains. A suggestive atmosphere and semi-transparent materials allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in the narrative of the necropolis discovery. With more than 40 graves, the archaeological finds span a wide chronological range, from 3000 BC to the Bronze Age. Organized by period, the artifacts are accompanied by captions that reference the concept of stratification through simple and clear elements, making the exhibition accessible to a broad and diverse audience. Multimedia contributions further enrich the communication of the scientific findings.

BOTER E FORMAI

The project “Boter e Formai” for the Latteria Sociale di Castelfondo interprets the retail space as an environment where the rediscovery of traditional materials and forms becomes the guiding principle of the design. The aim is to enhance local products by creating an essential setting in which simple forms and carefully selected chromatic accents make them the true protagonists. The space is defined by a refrigerated counter clad in fir wood and a large display unit made from the same material, featuring interlocking joints that conceal complex structural solutions behind an appearance of simplicity. A wall of vertical wooden slats completes the design, screening off the preparation area while maintaining a sense of continuity and visual clarity within the shop.

Angelica Pedrotti and Eleonora Pedrotti

Angelica and Eleonora Pedrotti are professionals in the field of architecture who share a common design approach that combines technical rigor, sensitivity to context, and attention to detail. After their respective academic paths — in Building Engineering-Architecture between Trento and Vienna for Angelica, and in Architecture in Ferrara for Eleonora — they collaborate with architect Valerio Panella within the design studio Aree di Studio, which operates across different fields and scales of intervention. From architecture to urban regeneration, from exhibition design to interior design, their work consistently integrates research and design practice. Their vision is based on the belief that architecture can positively impact spaces and everyday life through sustainable, inclusive solutions in continuous dialogue with the surrounding context. They work with a multidisciplinary approach, open to experimentation and exchange, collaborating with public and private stakeholders and promoting participatory and shared design processes.
