Dr. Albana Leti is a Lecturer and a senior academic staff member in the Department of Textile and Fashion at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Polytechnic University of Tirana, where she has been serving since 2006. She obtained her degree in Textile Engineering from the same institution and later completed a Second-Level Master’s degree in Textile Materials. In 2020, she earned her PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a research focus on 3D scanning and 3D printing of traditional folk costumes, contributing to the
digital preservation and innovation of textile heritage.
Her academic work integrates textile engineering, fashion design, digital technologies, and Industry 4.0, with strong expertise in CAD/CAM systems, 3D scanning, additive manufacturing, and digital fashion design. She teaches courses such as Interior Design, Industry 4.0, and Pattern Making, and CAD/CAM
Software, and has supervised more than 50 bachelor’s and master’s theses, fostering innovation and technical excellence among students.
Dr. Leti has an extensive research record, with publications in international journals and conferences, addressing topics such as textile heritage preservation, circular economy in the garment and footwear industries, productivity optimization, and sustainable fashion systems. Her recent research focuses on
sustainability, digitalization, and circular economy strategies in the textile and footwear sectors, positioning her work at the intersection of engineering innovation and sustainable development.
She has been actively involved in national and international research and development projects, including FP6 RETEXRESALB, Erasmus+ collaborations, national government-funded projects on clothing standards and uniforms, and international initiatives on circular economy and sustainability in textiles.
Her engagement extends to consultancy and industry collaboration, contributing to technological transfer and capacity building in the Albanian textile and footwear industry.
Dr. Leti is also deeply committed to academic service and professional development. She is a member of scientific committees of international conferences, a member of professional organizations such as BASTE and the Fiber Society, and participates in Erasmus+ teaching mobility programs. She actively organizes
student fashion exhibitions and promotes experiential learning, sustainability, and innovation among future textile engineers and designers.
Through her teaching excellence, research contributions, and dedication to sustainable
and digital transformation in textiles and fashion, Dr. Albana Leti has made significant contributions to the advancement of textile engineering education, research, and industry development. Her work represents a strong bridge between traditional textile heritage and modern digital manufacturing technologies, making her a highly deserving nominee for academic and professional recognition.
