Nestled beneath the ridgeline of Mount Taygetus, this residence is an architectural study on the relationship between the Spartan plain and the sky. The design translates view, light, and movement into a cohesive, spatial experience. The composition utilizes the fragmentation of volumes: A primary white horizontal mass aligns with the mountain’s base, while vertical elements penetrate the skyline, creating a rhythmic dialogue with the natural topography.
At the entrance, a strategic skylight punctures the ceiling, inviting the sky to become an integral part of the interior. This vertical connection is complemented by a sequence of steel beams that guide the user’s journey. Extending from the entrance through the living areas to the courtyard, these linear elements create a seamless interplay of light and shadow. This rhythmic flow blurs the boundaries between inside and out, anchoring the residence to its monumental surroundings.
