An old auto repair shop in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, is being transformed into a pediatric clinic. The space was designed with the principle that architectural design constitutes the first form of care toward the patient, and must offer familiarity and trust. The forms and materials enhance children’s emotional security, creating a protective and friendly environment. Interactive elements introduce play, allowing children to interact with the space. Organically, they are given the opportunity to influence the environment and make it “their own”. The pediatric clinic functions as an intermediate world between medical care and a fun experience, transforming fear into exploration.
