Laguna Coast Resort is a five-star retreat in Naxos, commissioned by the Laguna Coast Foundation, dedicated to preserving the island’s fragile lagoon ecosystem. Developed within an existing building design as part of a major regeneration initiative in the Cyclades, the project comprises 21 luxury suites accommodating 73 guests, and was completed in 18 months with the collaboration of local craftsmen.

Inspired by the fluid dynamics of the lagoon, water becomes the project’s primary element. Two shallow, organically shaped water features – one at the heart of the complex and another beside the restaurant – structure the spatial experience, create contemplative landscapes, and enhance the microclimate through passive cooling using desalinated seawater.

Organic, step-free pathways follow the natural contours of the site, while private courtyards with traditional perforated clay partitions ensure privacy. Local stone, oak, and pebble-finished concrete merge architecture with landscape. Laguna Coast Resort reimagines Cycladic hospitality as a sustainable architectural landscape where water, nature, and built form exist in quiet equilibrium.
