A 90 sq.m. derelict apartment in a 1914 listed early modernism building in Vilnius was acquired by Gytis Vaitkevičius, partner of Plazma architecture studio. It went on a full make over, adapting to its family’s needs: removing partition between kitchen-to-be and the living room, enlarging two bathrooms to fit a shower and bathtub in each, also repositioning of kitchen to the opposite side of apartment. The interior became a kaleidoscope of styles, from early modernism to nowadays, with carefully selected eclectic furniture. Each piece was carefully added to avoid the appearance that everything was bought in one time at a shop.

The existing ash parquet, installed during Soviet times, was revarnished and left intact. Both bathrooms were fully wrapped in grey marble, with leftover marble used to fill the gaps of existing flooring, where the partitions once stood. Same marble was used for the inner window sills. A raised steel kitchen was added, as well as a massive oak dining table, designed by Wolfgang Hartauer (prod. Tecta). The plaster mouldings of previous Soviet times reconstruction were also left intact, which required adding metal beams and a column for support. Bespoke, massive wood storage was added to all of the rooms. New arched doors were informed by the existing arches of load bearing structures. There are artworks of classic Lithuanian engraver A. Skirutytė, and a plaster bas-relief created by J. Vildžiūnas was added to the master bedroom.
