Christoph Roedig

roedig.schop architekten, Germany

Christoph Roedig has been running the roedig . schop architekten office together with his partner Ulrich Schop since 2002. Since its founding, the studio has been heavily involved in projects initiated on its own initiative, receiving numerous awards and recognitions such as the Deutscher Bauherrenpreis, Holzbauplus, KFW Award, Deutscher Holzbaupreis, and Deutscher Fassadenpreis. One of the main focuses of their work is to build affordable new residential buildings. To this end, they have conducted detailed research into prefabricated timber construction in urban environments. In 2008, Roedig and his two partners also founded the Institute for Urban Timber Construction (IfuH, Institut für urbanen Holzbau).

At the institute, they developed the “Fertighauscity 5+” (“prefabricated house city 5+”) concept, where they researched prototypes of wooden buildings with up to five stories that allow for individual apartment designs and at the same time adapt to the existing urban environment. Since 2008, Roedig has been teaching at the Technical University of Berlin in the REM Real Estate Management department.
