The new museum and landscaping of the National Cultural Monument Zámecek, the site of the Nazi execution ground, represent an important place in Czech history. It commemorates the events following the death of Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich in June 1942 due to an attack carried out by Czechoslovak parachutists. A total of 194 people, including all inhabitants of the Ležáky settlement, were murdered here. The landscaping and exposition from the 1970s did not match the importance of the site, causing the context to disappear and dignity to be lost. Connection with the neighboring park now allows access via the main axis of the area toward the sand mound, which was remodeled to its original shape, and the forest was replanted.
The 1949 monument became the starting point for the new composition, integrating a new museum and a tribune for commemorative gatherings. The museum is situated in the ground between the trees, avoiding competition with the monument. The concrete cast disappears under a green roof, blending into the meadow and resembling land art more than a traditional house. Various spaces within the museum form thematic units of the exhibition, presenting physical exhibits, archival materials, and audiovisual and multimedia elements, all supported by raw materials.
