Tha Chalom, the first sanitation district in Thailand which is the habitation of the Thai-Chinese fishing community settled in the past. The overall landscape is designed to be accessible for everyone, such as the application of Thai traditional terrace, a multi-purpose activity space where everyone is welcome. This landscape space encourages all to enjoy harmoniously. Due to the limited space, the abandoned water tower structure in site is transformed to be a 4-story usable space designed in a cubic shape that conveys the look of a boat cab. Its ground floor is set to be an opening space linking to the surrounding green areas and the fishing boat inspired playground, while the top provides a viewpoint by taking advantage the water tower’s height that overlooks the panoramic view of the entire Tha Chin River settlement of Tha Chalom. It becomes a learning space that brings understandings of being part of the city to create a public awareness of environmental care to the visitors.
