The SIMA Chair was conceived through an exploration of modular aluminum profiles – an essential yet often overlooked component of industry. Centered on the simple 30×30 mm profile, the design celebrates its distinctive cross-section through precise joinery and clean construction.
Influenced by Gerrit Rietveld’s Red and Blue Chair and the principles of Bauhaus, the chair employs non-overlapping vertical and horizontal elements, connected seamlessly with hidden joints. This contemporary reinterpretation of modernist ideals blends aluminum profiles with a notched acrylic sheet, producing a visual rhythm of light, shadow, and transparency that resonates with today’s high-tech aesthetics.
