A new construction of senior apartments, Šmartno, is located near the village of Šmartno in Slovenia. Senior living apartments are groups of individual residences that occupy a building or community complex designed with older individuals in mind. The area where our senior apartment block is situated is intended for construction for the elderly, as a retirement home is already located there.
The apartment block consists of three building masses. Between the two larger building masses that include apartments (BF+GF+3F), there is a smaller building mass (BF+GF) intended for group activities, gatherings, and social interactions of the residents. All three building masses have a flat roof. In terms of floor plan, the dimensions of the building are broken twice and follow the layers and contour lines of the building plot as much as possible. The broken, articulated design of the building masses also follows the design principle of the existing retirement home.
