Rumba

The RUMBA research project by studiokurbos, in collaboration with esteemed partners like Audi and Bosch, aims to revolutionize the autonomous driving experience by prioritizing passenger needs. The project introduces an innovative interior design with three seating modes—Drive Mode, Social Space Mode, and Cocoon Mode—each catering to different levels of vehicle automation and passenger preferences.

Traditional controls are replaced with “Shy-Tech” technology, making them visible only when needed. A standout feature is the “Loop,” a multifunctional element that serves as a display, control, and communication tool. The minimalist interior design is enhanced with sustainable materials and a flexible lighting concept. Externally, the vehicle’s one-box design emphasizes the passenger experience, featuring visible sensors and futuristic styling.

Virtual Reality plays a crucial role in the design process, enabling realistic simulations and enhancing collaboration among project teams.
