John Bushell has led the design of some of KPF's most notable and innovative projects in the UK and globally. He builds consensus across diverse expert teams and seeks to promote design that is authentically sustainable and socially relevant.

With a deep understanding of the political and social drivers of development, and a commitment to open dialogue and collaboration, John has led successful planning applications and the delivery of significant tall buildings and extensive mixed-use urban plans in multiple London boroughs. John’s approach is rooted in detailed analysis of the context. His unique design solutions have frequently unlocked sites with complex needs, such as One Crown Place, a mixed-use development at the scale of a whole city block and Pearl Yard Bermondsey, where he led the detailed masterplan for a major regeneration project featuring more than 1.500 BTR homes.

A long-time advocate for architectural reuse, John has led some of KPF's most important transformation projects such as the modernization of Unilever House; the conversion of South Bank Tower into a mixed-use development; the renaissance of a stalled development into a tech hub at Oriente Green Campus; and Panorama St Paul's, a landmark building in the heart of the City of London that will become the new headquarters for HSBC. His "keep and add" approach to adaptive reuse demonstrates the possibility to radically improve operational performance and to preserve the embodied energy of carbon-intensive steel and concrete structures while creating the homes, workplaces, and dynamic neighborhoods that cities need to thrive.
