The dilapidated farm building, which was over 100 years old, was demolished and replaced by a residential building in the style of a stable. The shingled residential wing of the former farm, typical of the Bregenzerwald region, remained unchanged. The design of the new building is based on the stylistic elements of a stable.
The base floor was constructed in exposed concrete. On the south side, small windows in the basement are reminiscent of classic stable windows. The two upper floors are fitted with a classic, floor-to-ceiling canopy. The interior is dominated by local silver fir for almost all surfaces and furniture. Only one exposed concrete wall in the living area provides a striking contrast to the wood. Generous glazing frames the picturesque mountain landscape. The family currently uses the ground floor and upper floor. When the children grow up or start their own families, the living space can be expanded by converting the currently undeveloped basement area. The barn between the old and new wings can also be used for residential purposes at a later date. With only minimal effort, the entire building can be adapted to different living situations. It offers space for up to 3–4 residential units without the need for any changes to the existing new building – in keeping with the traditional, multi-generational house as we know it from old farms. All wooden elements in the interior, the entire façade, and all structural timber come from the company’s own forest.
