The Lynx Mountain Resort & Casino Florina 5* is located on a wooded hillside at the outskirts of Florina, Greece, adjacent to an archaeological site, and overlooking the city and its distant horizons. The project involves the renovation of the historic Xenia Florina Hotel, creating a contemporary resort seamlessly integrated into its natural context.

The landscape design aims to create a contemporary and coherent outdoor space (6.000m²), fully adapted to the distinctive characteristics of the site. The concept is based on the osmosis between the site and the surrounding nature, the dialogue with the linearity of the building, and the enhancement of the distant horizons. Sliding, linear elements – paving strips, prismatic planters with concealed linear lighting, and light canopies – organize the space and define reference points within both the spring and the snowy winter landscape.

The planting design adopts a more fluid and organic character, in contrast to the architectural linearity. The proposed vegetation spreads as a “colonization” of the surrounding forest plant communities, reinforcing the ecological continuity and enriching the landscape’s seasonal transformations. The existing tall vegetation is preserved, ensuring unobstructed views toward the distant horizons and emphasizing the site’s natural identity. The design also integrates an ecological approach to water management: Part of the stormwater is collected and reused for irrigation.
