The family-owned company Kern – Interior Studio received a new exterior, giving the building a youthful and fresh appearance. As part of the renovation, the attic was partially raised and expanded with office spaces, creating new spatial levels with direct access to spacious terraces.

The existing building underwent comprehensive thermal refurbishment: the façade and roof were insulated, windows and entrance doors were replaced, underfloor heating was installed, and a photovoltaic system with approximately 4 kWp was added to the roof of the residential building. The roof and terrace areas have gained particular significance. Parts of the roof structure were extensively greened, creating new interactions between interior and exterior spaces. The clear gable roof gives the building a striking, prominent presence, accentuated by a narrow roof edge. This strict formality is softened by an open and inviting façade, allowing deep views into the showroom and exhibition areas.

The grainy, earthy plaster covering the entire façade further softens the rigid geometry through its warm color. Together with carefully designed façade lighting, the building draws visitors in and creates a harmonious overall impression, balancing formality and softness, unity and diversity in a compelling way.
