Kari Korkman has been working in design for over twenty years and is the managing director of the design agency Luovi Oy. Through networks such as Helsinki Design Week, which he founded and runs, he has built connections between design companies and created international design networks. Korkman is also active in bringing the design profession closer to the general public.

Helsinki Design Week is an annual festival of design and all the ways in which design appears in our lives. Events take place throughout the city, covering traditional and industrial design, fashion, communications, and even music. This year’s theme was “co-creation,” which was explored in workshops, exhibitions, fashion shows, seminars, and visits to studios and other spaces not normally open to the public. There were also PechaKucha evenings, a design market, Open House Helsinki, and the Design Week LIVE project.
