Isla Brown Cania

The hotel is situated on the Akrotiri peninsula, 14km from Chania city center and 10km from the airport, near the renowned village and beach of Stavros. Most of Akrotiri’s beaches are shielded from the strong north winds of summer and are conveniently located a short distance from the city, such as Marathi and Kalathas beach. The area is also renowned for its rich history and heritage. Guests not only have the opportunity to explore nearby beaches but also to immerse themselves in the vibrant tradition and cultural depth of the Old Town of Chania.

The existing building comprises three main sections: the main building, the guest wing, and the bungalows, which were integrated to create a contemporary resort hotel reflecting the essence of the Akrotiri peninsula while embracing its modern allure. This complex configuration allowed for the creation of diverse rooms catering to the aesthetic preferences of each guest, as well as fostering a multisensory experience amid the built areas, vegetation, and landscape. To imbue the building with a distinctive and intimate ambiance exuding soft luxury, a natural color palette, wood, and indigenous flora were employed throughout the facades and interiors to instill tranquility and harmony into the surroundings.

The integration of natural elements and earthy tones has enabled the development of a visual language that seamlessly connects the landscape with the interior spaces. From the guest rooms, where wood harmonizes with travertine floors, to the communal areas, where marble complements rattan, a sense of sophistication pervades. Additionally, carefully selected design pieces and furniture enrich the overall experience. The lobby, centrally located within the hotel’s main building, offers uninterrupted vistas of the peninsula’s azure sea and sky. Meticulously designed elements in the lobby frame the diverse qualities of the views, instilling a strong sense of natural elegance. A notable feature is the skylight, adorned with bamboo elements, which, together with the vegetation below, creates dynamic shadow patterns throughout the day.
