Hotel ELVA is a revitalized apartment hotel located in the Stubai Valley, Tyrol. The design combines the preservation of the existing structure with contemporary timber architecture: The existing building was completely refurbished and extended by a lightweight timber addition, which now forms the new architectural highlight of the hotel.
The dark timber façade visually separates the new structure from the existing building; light façade setbacks create private retreat areas for guests. Varied openings and cut-outs in the façade frame both near and distant views of the surrounding alpine landscape. The restaurant, bar, and lounge, as well as the Sky Spa with pool, fitness, bouldering, and yoga areas, offer diverse spaces for relaxation and recreation – all with direct visual connections to the Mountain ELFER, the hotel’s namesake. The aim was to combine a clear architectural language with bright, warm interior spaces, while designing efficient floor plans.
Natural materials, textured plaster surfaces, light oak flooring, soft beige and green tones, and a carefully considered lighting concept create an atmosphere of calm and serenity – inspired by the nature of the Stubai Alps. The interplay between architecture and interior design gives the project its distinctive character: a hard shell – a soft core.
