Within the Sitra fund, Bryan Boyer is primarily involved in developing the Helsinki Design Lab initiative to strengthen strategic design as a way of working both in Finland and abroad. The initiative includes Studio Model, as well as the HDL Global event and website. Previously, Boyer worked as an independent architect, computer programmer, and technology entrepreneur. He graduated with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design and holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Strategic design is the application of traditional design principles to address “big” systemic challenges such as healthcare, education, and climate change. It changes the approach to problems, identifies opportunities for action, and enables the search for more comprehensive and sustainable solutions.

Sitra – the Finnish Innovation Fund – aims to build a successful Finland in tomorrow’s world. Its activities promote and encourage new business models that strive for sustainable prosperity.

Sitra reports directly to the Finnish Parliament on its activities.
