The KRAFTalm expansion follows a clear principle: creating more space without overwhelming the existing building, guided by respect for the landscape, the original structure, and its Alpine context.
Key challenges: expand without dominating the existing hotel, preserve the surrounding nature, ensure versatile use with minimal land consumption, integrate wellness and event areas, and maintain a visible connection to nature in every room.
Solution: The upper-floor massage room opens to the mountains, surrounded by bilberry shrubs, while the ground floor offers a flexible space for yoga, seminars, or small events, framed by white and black pines that evoke the forest. The building is integrated discreetly, with minimal land sealing and targeted greenery.
Result: A retreat with far-reaching views that strengthens the Alpine character, offering tranquility, activity, and connection.
Highlights: 90.6% green surfaces, 400+ native plants and trees, low vegetation to preserve views, flexible layout, materials in harmony with the surroundings, and restrained architecture with impactful details.
