Submission Deadline: 15 May 2025

For the fourth time, Építészfórum (epiteszforum.hu), Hungary’s leading online architecture magazine, is organizing the Architecture Festival (Építészfesztivál) in Budapest. This year, the event returns in a renewed format with an international focus under the name EDGE Architecture Festival Budapest (EDGE Fest). The conference will spotlight progressive, forward-thinking architectural topics on a global scale, accompanied by the EDGE Award, which aims to support and celebrate these ambitions. The competition is open until 15 May, welcoming submissions in five categories from architects and architecture-related creatives around the world.

EDGE Fest

Since 2022, Építészfórum has been organizing the Budapest Architecture Festival (Építészfesztivál), engaging professionals and enthusiasts interested in architecture and its related fields. Held annually, the event served as a platform for professional dialogue, addressing global and local architectural issues, and fostering communication and collaboration across disciplines. Now in its fourth edition, the event is evolving with a renewed format and an expanded international reach under the name EDGE Architecture Festival, continuing its mission on a broader stage.

What does it mean to be an architect in 2025? What new challenges do we face? What social, ecological, and technological changes are currently unfolding? What defines the aesthetics of our time, and what ideas do new formal experiments express? Is building necessary at all? And if so, in what form, with what tools, and for whom? What will the society of the future look like, and how can architecture relate to it? How can a building designed for longevity respond to these transformations? What opportunities do architects have if they take today’s challenges seriously?

These and many other pressing questions will be explored at the EDGE Architecture Festival Budapest in Dürer Kert between 3-4 July, which serves as a conference, social event, and awards ceremony. The Budapest-based EDGE Fest addresses progressive and forward-thinking topics on both regional and European levels, while the accompanying award supports these ambitions.

During the festival, international and Hungarian speakers will examine various aspects of ecological, social, technological, and aesthetic issues. Meanwhile, the award will create opportunities for the expression of new ideas. By recognizing forward- thinking projects, this intellectual discourse will be enriched with concepts and theories that could shape the directions of future generations. EDGE Fest’s mission is to provide space for all ideas that push the profession beyond its comfort zone while also revealing forward-looking perspectives.

The conference will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, ranging from internationally renowned architects to emerging local talents – anyone with relevant insights to share and the ability to engage in a discussion where different generations and cultural approaches can coexist.
