The 115-square-meter apartment, located in a pre-war building with high ceilings, underwent extensive reconstruction due to the poor condition of its original elements. Wherever possible, we carefully preserved original features such as wooden doors, frames, and selected windows to honor the space’s heritage.
The design blends retro charm with modern elegance, creating an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and refined. My intention was to evoke positive emotions – crafting a home that feels like a time capsule with a contemporary twist. Each room reflects the client’s travels, offering a sense of global exploration without leaving home.
I aimed to seamlessly fuse old and new, drawing inspiration from the building’s stairwell and the city’s iconic Art Nouveau color palette. This thoughtful layering of textures, materials, and historical references captures the spirit of Budapest while maintaining modern-day comfort and functionality.
The result is a harmonious, inviting home – one that celebrates history, personal stories, and timeless design, all while offering a cozy and elegant living experience.
