2317 | Nara | Chair

Japanese aesthetic canons are where we have started in this exercise of formal synthesis to create this design, simplifying the lines that make up the volumes of the product to give rise to a very direct design, in which the form is strongly defined by the chair’s function. The raised seat brings light to the product and allows one to see how the product has been constructed. The soft curvature of the backrest contrasts with the straight-lined seat. The seat shares the same thickness with the legs, becoming strokes that draw the piece in an emphatic way. This rotundity is accentuated in the unupholstered version, while the upholstered version envelops the design and gives it a warmer approach.
