Bruit du Frigo, France

Bruit du Frigo (Refrigerator Noise) is a socially engaged hybrid studio that brings together a group of architects, artists, urban planners, and photographers with a shared desire to explore the qualities of the urban environment in the broadest possible way. Since 1997, when the office was founded by Yvan Detraz and Gabi Farange, they have designed numerous interventions in public spaces that require the participation of residents and the general public. When they build an urban installation, they also require temporary residence in it and a specific use that changes the neighborhood. As a result, its residents begin to understand everyday things in a new way. This brings about change, which is what they strive for.

Their main desire is to connect residents with those who plan and manage, in order to make life more pleasant for everyone. Last but not least, their temporary installations are made of wood, as this is the only way they can be recycled after use.
